At Accuris, we’re committed to building Engineering Workbench (EWB) into the most intuitive, powerful platform for engineering organizations and professionals working with standards, codes, and regulations. The most valuable input comes directly from you – the engineers, researchers, and decision-makers who rely on EWB every day.
We’ve been listening. And we’ve been building. The platform is continuously being developed in response to user needs, ensuring ongoing improvement and alignment.
Accuris Engineering Workbench supports a broad range of industries and helps users comply with standards, codes, and regulations across sectors and geographies. Here’s a look at the latest updates and what’s coming next – all designed to make Engineering Workbench faster, clearer, and more aligned with your workflows.
Smarter Search for Engineering Standards
Whether you’re looking for a core document or managing dozens of related supplements, finding the right industry standard, code, or regulation quickly is critical. Our improved search system enhances efficiency and productivity by delivering faster, more accurate results, allowing users to focus on essential engineering tasks instead of document research and management.
- Core documents prioritized – Base documents will now appear at the top of your search results in Engineering Workbench, so you can access the primary standard first, followed by amendments, errata, and other supplements.
- Context at a glance – Get a complete view of each engineering standard, with all linked documents and revisions bundled together for quicker review.
- Flexible result views – Switch between a comprehensive view (all versions and supplements) or a clean, focused main-documents-only layout.
- Modern interface – A refreshed UI delivers faster navigation, fewer clicks, and a smoother workflow.
- Customizable preferences – Set your search and display preferences once and Engineering Workbench will remember them, streamlining repeated tasks.
These enhancements are designed to make your work with engineering standards more efficient, whether you’re researching, referencing, or sharing content with your team.
A More Intuitive Viewer, Built for Engineers
One of the most requested improvements? A modernized document viewer that’s easy to use, fast to load, and flexible enough for everyday engineering work, with thoughtful design and enhanced reliability to support critical workflows.
Launching in Q3, the redesigned document viewer in Engineering Workbench brings:
- Smoother page transitions and zoom controls
- Cleaner, easier navigation
- Simplified access to key tools like annotations, bookmarks, alerts, and sharable links
- Improved readability
- Full functionality parity with the legacy viewer to support your existing workflows
- A more stable foundation for faster performance and future innovation
Whether you’re referencing an individual spec or embedding links to industry standards into downstream documents, processes, and systems, the new viewer will help you move more efficiently.
And with a phased rollout, you’ll have the opportunity to preview the experience, offer feedback, and temporarily return to the classic view if needed.
Powerful New Tools for Admins: Greater Control and Visibility
As more teams transition to Engineering Workbench, we’re rolling out new admin features that give platform administrators greater control over user access, license usage, and content management, helping streamline their time and workflows when working with large collections of engineering standards.
These updates are designed to increase transparency, reduce administrative burden, and give organizations clearer visibility into how standards are accessed and used across their teams and processes – from design and requirements management to testing, manufacturing, production, compliance management, safety and quality management, and beyond.
Subscription Visibility – by Publisher and by PCN
- Admins can now view subscriptions in two ways: by Publisher and by PCN, with each view offering a distinct lens into your licensed content.
- Content is classified by type: Custom Collections, Custom Blocks, or Product Sets – so you can manage and optimize access with confidence.
- An export function makes it easy to download subscription details for compliance tracking, internal reviews, or procurement alignment.
- See clear mappings to order forms and access real-time document lists through EWB search, creating transparency around what’s included in each subscription.
Real-Time License Usage Tracking
- View your License Allocation and monitor real-time license usage across your sub-accounts
- Identify potential bottlenecks and free up seats to ensure engineers never lose access to the engineering standards and regulations they rely on, maintaining reliability in your operations.
- These insights help you make better decisions about licensing strategy and access governance, optimizing license usage to enhance overall productivity.
Streamlined User Management
- A new self-service tool makes it easy for admins to add or remove users directly from the Admin Portal.
- Invite new users quickly during onboarding, or remove access during offboarding to maintain security and control.
- These tools empower admins to manage their Engineering Workbench environment more effectively, without needing to go through support for everyday updates.
These admin enhancements are designed to match the complexity and scale of modern engineering organizations – while making the management of engineering standards more intuitive, efficient, and aligned with your internal processes.
Co-Creating the Future of Engineering Workbench
What’s next for Engineering Workbench? More of what you’ve asked for: streamlined navigation, better tools for managing engineering standards, codes, and regulations, and a flexible, reliable platform that keeps up with complex processes, and with how teams and organizations work today.
We are committed to offering standards from leading organizations such as the American Petroleum Institute (API), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), ISO, IEEE, ASTM, ASME, Standards Australia, and hundreds more. Popular content among our 2.8M global engineering standards and specs include the BPVC (Boiler Pressure Vessel Code), Military Specifications (Mil Specs), aerospace standards, transportation standards, and regulatory content from the US Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) to support compliance workflows. We are also continually adding other standards and regulations to our repository to meet the needs of our diverse user base – supporting users in disciplines like civil engineering, chemical, materials, electrical, mechanical engineering, and more.
The platform supports a wide range of projects and industries, including aerospace, oil and gas, manufacturing, construction services, medical devices, nuclear energy and power generation, consumer goods, and more, enabling streamlined standards management for diverse sectors and applications.
Our commitment is to keep listening – and to keep building with you.
