Detailed History

AENOR was founded in 1986 to facilitate Spain’s integration into the European Economic Community (now the European Union). It took over the standardization work previously handled by the Institute for Rationalization and Standardization (IRANOR). Since its formation, AENOR has worked to align Spanish standards with those of CEN, CENELEC, ISO, and IEC, making Spanish businesses more competitive globally.
